About

What is the Agroecology Knowledge Hub?

01 / 03

The Agroecology Knowledge Hub is a digital home for agroecology knowledge, learning and collaboration in Nepal.

The hub brings together resources from research, field practice, policy, community experience and learning events. It is designed for farmers, practitioners, researchers, civil society organizations, educators, media, students, policymakers, local governments and development partners who want to understand and promote agroecology.

The platform documents what is working, what is being tested and what needs further learning. It helps users access publications, case studies, training materials, videos, discussion spaces and opportunities to contribute.

The hub has three linked purposes:

  • Make agroecology knowledge easier to find and use.
  • Connect people and institutions working on agroecology.
  • Support evidence-based action, learning and policy dialogue.

Positioning statement:

"A living knowledge platform for Nepal’s agroecological transition."

About

Why this Knowledge Hub?

02 / 03

Agroecology knowledge is growing in Nepal, but it is often scattered across reports, field experiences, projects, trainings and informal networks.

Many farmers and practitioners are already testing ecological and climate-resilient approaches. Researchers are producing evidence. Civil society organizations are supporting community-led initiatives. Local governments are searching for practical solutions. However, these efforts are not always easy to discover, compare or build upon.

The Knowledge Hub responds to this gap by creating a common space for documentation, exchange and learning. It helps reduce duplication, improve visibility of local innovations, and support collaboration between science, practice and policy.

The hub is needed to:

  • Preserve and share farmer-led knowledge and local innovations.
  • Make research and policy materials more accessible.
  • Connect practitioners working in different geographies and institutions.
  • Support local governments and development actors with practical resources.
  • Strengthen the national conversation on agroecology.

Who are Engaged?

03 / 03

Agroecology grows through collaboration. The Knowledge Hub welcomes diverse actors who bring different forms of knowledge and experience.

  • Farmers and farmer groups: Share practical experience, local knowledge, innovations, challenges and lessons from the field.
  • Researchers and academic institutions: Generate evidence, evaluate practices, support learning materials and contribute scientific knowledge.
  • Civil society organizations: Facilitate community action, document learning, support advocacy and strengthen networks.
  • Local governments: Integrate agroecology into planning, extension, climate resilience and local development priorities.
  • Women and youth groups: Bring leadership, innovation, enterprise ideas and perspectives on equity and future livelihoods.
  • Media and communicators: Help translate agroecology knowledge into public awareness and accessible stories.
  • Development partners: Support collaboration, capacity development, evidence generation and scaling of promising approaches.

Inclusive engagement message:

The hub recognizes that agroecology is strengthened when different knowledge systems meet with respect: scientific research, local practice, indigenous knowledge, women’s experience, youth innovation and policy insight.
